Les Francofolies – French Music Festival 13-17 July 2016

Francofolies: a vibrant festival set in La Rochelle

All styles of French language music converge at one of France’s leading festivals held at La Rochelle each summer.

Les Francofolies welcomes all styles from soul to folk as well as hip hop, electro, blues and rock. With more than 250 concerts in eight different venues programmed across five days and nights, there is plenty to keep the most enthusiastic festival-goers entertained. Previous years have seen concerts from household names Johnny Hallyday, Cali, Raphael, Olivia Ruiz, Rover, M but also Archive, Vitalic...

2016 lineup includes Mika, Aaron, Ibrahim Maalouf, Caravan Palace, Lilly Wood and the Prick, Louane, Louise Attaque, Marina Kaye, Nekfeu, Jain.

Set in the historic town of La Rochelle, more than half of the concerts are free making it easy to combine sight-seeing with soaking up the festival atmosphere. With more than 180,000 spectators expected over the course of the festival, it is important to book accommodation before you arrive but good transport links mean that you can stay outside La Rochelle and journey in easily.

An important part of Francofolies is the development of new talent and young artists play a special role in the festival. In 1998, ‘Le Chantier des Francos’ was created encouraging young acts to perform throughout the year in La Rochelle and not just during the festival.
