Francofolies festival - 11-15 July 2012
Every July, the historic quaysides around La Rochelle’s Vieux Port buzz to the music of Francofolies, an unmissable event for Europe’s rock music fans.
In 2011, Francofolies saw record crowds of more than 90,000 spectators gathered across the five days, and 2012 could prove another record-breaking year.
This legendary French-language music festival celebrates its 28th birthday from 11-15 July at venues around La Rochelle’s fabulous harbour with its photogenic twin towers and historic waterfront.
The line-up of musicians will include something for everyone, from household names to alternative acts and – a Francofolies speciality – the best in emerging talent.
The training, equipment and staging offered to young French artists by Le Chantier des Francos has been the springboard for many a successful rock music career and 2012 is unlikely to be an exception.
