    A site unique to Europe located alongside the Charente river, the Rochefort lagooning station is an excellent example of successful environmental management. With an area of about 175 acres, this station allows for economical and ecologically sound treatment of Rochefort's wastewaters. And thanks to the use-specific basins set up by the local bird protection league on the shores of the Charente, the site is also a true haven for seabirds. All visits of the reserve are accompanied theme-based outings.

The exhibition "Charente confluences, from the river to the industries, from the paper to the picture" situated in the rooms of the "rez-de-Charente" evokes auniverse where the water, the paper, the industries and the graphic creation dominate. In the first floor, temporary exhibitions reveals the multiple technical or artistic aspects of the paper and the cardboard.
