The panorama of the old city from the heights of the Dunes, Notre Dame la Grande church (11th and 12th centuries) with its facade’s sculptures depicting themes from the Old Testament (polychrome lighting on summer nights);  the Saint-Pierre cathedral with its classical organ and whose central window panel, one of the most beautiful Roman artworks in Poitou, illustrates the crucifixion; the Palais de Justice in the one-time palace of the Counts of Poitou and its hall of law courts (13th-15th centuries); the donjon known as "Maubergeon tower" (12th-14th centuries), the Saint Jean baptistery, a 4th-century edifice reconstructed during the high Middle Ages, the Pierre-Mendes France space, a center of technical and scientific culture with its planetarium, the Roman churches Saint-Hilaire, Sainte Radegonde, Saint Porchaire and Saint Jean de Montierneuf; the Hôtel Fumé with its flamboyantly Gothic-style façade, the half-timbered houses on the Rue de la Chaine; the venerable Parc de Blossac.
